Die feine und samtige Struktur von Kalbs-Leder bedarf einer besonders schonenden Pflege und Reinigung. Im ersten Schritt sollte zunächst immer eine Trockenreinigung stattfinden. Je nach Grad der Verschmutzung eignen sich hier eine Bürste mit Gummilamellen oder ein Moosgummi-Block. Beides nur sehr sanft einsetzen, um das sensible Material zu schützen. Vor dem ersten Tragen sollte das Leder imprägniert werden, so wie auch später in regelmäßigen Abständen. Das ermöglicht dieses auch über lange Zeit zu erhalten.
